Description:

Amegreen Children’s Service provides specialist Therapeutic Residential Care and treatment for children and adolescents aged 5 to 18.  Our goal is to help children recover from difficult, often traumatic early life experiences by providing skilled, consistent, warm and affectionate care, in an environment that is safe and reparative.

Established in 2013, we have four small homes, all close together with strong links to allow for flexibility and responsiveness to emerging needs. The service is situated in rural surroundings across West Berkshire and Hampshire. In 2022, Amegreen Education was formed in providing a therapeutic learning provision for children who are disengaged in education. Our learning farm affords children an outdoor, safe and exploratory experience to engage in education and enjoy their learning on a working farm

We use Developmental Trauma and Attachment Theory to help us understand the children’s behaviours and give us effective ways of helping them learn to self-regulate.

Often we work with children who can move on to adoption or fostering, and we aim to have these capacities in place so their new placements will survive and thrive. Our homes are specialist with a particular focus on early years, primary, trauma informed and rehabilitation model.

We own 12 horses and all our resident children have access to them. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a therapeutic  practice in which working with horses is used as a tool for emotional growth and learning.

Our Directors Gary Carlin and Rachel Redgwell are registered social workers who collectively  have many years of practice experience across childrens homes, education and stuatory services. Our staff teams are experienced and committed and well supported by regular on-site clinical psychology and psychotherapy wrap around services.
