Other education provision: Individualised programmes of activities, facilitating experiences that aid the development of practical, social, self-coping and educational/vocational skills. In-house education will be provided if this is viewed as the best solution to working towards independence.
Therapeutic provision: Positive behaviour support, access to independent clinicians/therapists, as required.
Description:
New Futures is a young and ambitious organisation, currently in the process of registering its first children’s home for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The home is located in the Parkfields area (Ettingshall) in Wolverhampton.
Based on attachment theory, our model of support is rooted in the recognition that the development of children and young people living at our homes have been affected by difficult experiences. We therefore use specific approaches to provide an environment in which the child / young person feels safe and is able to develop the self-esteem needed to forge positive relationships. Whilst we have rigorous processes in place to ensure safety and well-being, we view preparation for adulthood as one of our key responsibilities. As such, we are fully committed to facilitate experiences that aid the development of practical, social, self-coping and educational/vocational skills.
To further refine our approaches, we are working with a range of expert practitioners. In addition, we intend to engage with young people accessing our services, as well as care leavers to help us design a model centred on the young people we support and their long-term objectives.
