Description:
Cherish Children’s Care Ltd operates residential and semi-independence homes across the North of England. Our homes are within semi rural locations, individual in style and are designed to suit the needs of the young people in residence. We believe that by accommodating the children and young people we support and nurture in a small, family sized group, greatly assists in the delivery of our therapy led parenting model.
Cherish specialise in providing support to children and young people who may have a range of complex needs, emotional and behavioural issues or who are engaged with the Youth Offending Service. We have proven and sustained success in providing long-term placements for children and young people who previously have not been able to maintain foster or residential placements, preventing the need for referrals o secure units. Our residents may have additional barriers to living and learning, such as social and communicative needs and may be vulnerable due to a risk of self-injurious or challenging behaviours. We aim to ensure that our young people feel safe and valued whilst living in their home.
Each home provides psychotherapeutic support to all of the residents as well as supporting the staff team; employing two qualified psychotherapists and one level four counsellor experienced in trauma and loss. We deliver support from a strong theoretical basis, our parenting model is based on established research, designed to parent and support those young people with the most disordered attachment behaviours.
The staff team encourage positive behaviours that help to produce positive outcomes in all aspects of the children’s and young people’s lives on a sustainable, on-going basis. The staff team are committed to providing an environment which facilitates the residents growth, maturation, self-respect and responsibility and the development of age appropriate skills and behaviour. This is within the context of the need to provide young people with positive adult role models, guidance and boundaries, achieved within a manner which respects their rights, individuality and dignity.
