Description:
With over 135 years’ experience of providing specialist services, the staff at Nugent pride themselves in offering a quality therapeutic, residential and educational provision. All of the children and young people we support have challenging behaviors, learning disabilities and associated complex needs.
Many of our young people will have been diagnosed with a Mental Health difficulty and/or display inappropriate behaviour.
We provide both residential care and education and day education placements. We mainly operate 52 week residential basis with options for 38 week placements, where required. We can also offer adaptable and bespoke packages to suits the needs of individual young people.
Nugent adopts child-centred therapeutic support to meet the needs of the young people in our care. Our therapeutic model is rooted in humanistic psychology, including elements of attachment theory, psychodynamic thinking, behavioural and cognitive psychology and social learning theory.
It is our aim to support the child or young person’s development in ways that will foster security, confidence and resilience and provide an environment in which children and young people feel
safe, secure, valued, respected and confident and know how to approach adults, if they have difficulties.
