Description:

Change can be a positive experience. This is a consistent message we show through our services, by focusing our childcare efforts on effecting positive change through a consistent, good parenting approach, which creates a safe environment and therapeutic space.

We understand that the complex level of needs of our often traumatised young people, means that they can be unable to regulate their behaviours and care well for themselves and are often unable to let others do this for them, or indeed with them.

We understand that their previous life experiences have influenced their presentation and that their behaviours are a normal reaction to their life circumstances accepting, without reservation, their current personality and behaviours as merely a starting point. We work within a practice framework, built around clinically assessed outcome measures that are inclusive of counselling/psychotherapy.

Our “community of care” framework ensures that young people are cared for within environments which are founded on many of the principles of a therapeutic setting. This helps to support the healing process by recognising individual needs, offering differing forms and levels of therapeutic care that are needs based, trauma sensitive and relationship / attachment focussed.

Our Core Values, as an organisation, are reflective of those values that would be evident in any safe, healthy and supportive therapeutic living environment and our therapeutic model aims to give our young people an opportunity to develop healthy attachments as a starting point for development.
