Description:
Oakley House is a OFSTED registered independent Children’s Home offering short, medium and long-term care for up to 4 children between the ages of eight and eighteen inclusively.
The aim of Oakley House is to provide a 52-week a year home, assessment and treatment provision for young people, who present challenging behaviour due to their early traumatic life experiences, including: patterns of absconding, attachment disorders, sexualised and sexually harmful behaviour, non-school attendance, anti-social behaviours.
It is our belief that all children, especially those traumatised by reception into care, deserve the highest standard of physical and emotional care, stability, consistency, structure and clear appropriate boundaries. We aim to help young people build a resilience to cope with challenges and difficulties to help them reach their full potential.
The ethos of Oakley House is to provide a safe, stable and structured environment in which young people can settle and then grow emotionally and physically into mature young adults, attaining the confidence and independence needed to become positive members of the community. There is a strong emphasis upon establishing a secure base from which the child can experience a close relationship with their identified keyworker as a primary care provider. This is undertaken within a safe environment where a child can test authority and have appropriate boundaries and controls on their behaviour.
We understand the limited choices that the young people may have experienced, so actively encourage them to be involved in the decision-making surrounding their life. We believe this enables, empowers and promotes good decision making within structured boundaries. This is re-enforced by a staff team with a wealth of experience dedicated to supporting the young person and promoting their rights.
