Description:
Unique Children’s Home is providing residential social care with therapeutic interventions and education to children up to 18 years of age. Their residential social care, therapeutic and
educational needs are responded to in an integrated fashion.
Our work approach is based on our model, with which we undertake Re-constructive and De-constructive works with the young people. The Re-constructive process supports their building of positive Attitude, Behaviour and Character; as well as their sense of Acceptance, Belonging and Competence.
The De-constructive process is a psychotherapy intervention to undo impacts of traumas on them. Conduct disorder and or affective disorder or other anxieties and traumas, often affect young people in care.
Through the therapeutic pathways, young people are given a sense of safety and stability, respect and self-value. This translates into self-worth which is not the same as self-esteem. Self-worth gives them a sense of how to value themselves but self-esteem causes to them feel good about themselves, temporarily.
Personalised educational programmes are offered to each young person, in order to support their return into mainstream education. The education plan is linked with supportive therapeutic factors of the model.
This enhances emotional stability and awareness in the learning process. It is an integrated way of learning which is designed to meet the total needs of each child in the home. Our therapists work with the teachers for the best outcomes in both care and education.
