Description:
BASE SUPPORT was founded in 2011 by Stuart Bartley and Darren Katchi, both experienced practitioners in the social and health care fields. We wanted to improve the quality of accommodation young people were staying in Wales, so we decided to do it ourselves. BASE started with a small seven-bed project in Cardiff for young people to live independently. By 2017, this grew to three hostel accommodations and seven flats.
In 2019, we made the move into registered children’s homes. We wanted to provide proper homes for young people who really need it. We now operate two registered children’s homes in Cardiff – thoroughly renovated to meet the high standards of Care Inspectorate Wales. Both offer flexible accommodation and care for 4 young people aged 15-19, of any gender, tailored to meet their changing needs. We’re proud to have care-experienced practitioners at every level of including all three directors. Stuart Bartley has 15 years-experience in social care, and 20 years in public health. Darren Katchi spent 20 years in Children’s Services, residential and social work, and Alex Bartley worked in Children’s Services for 15 years. All of our managers and deputies have backgrounds in Children’s and Adult Services, and have all achieved Level 5 Diplomas in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services.
We know it’s important for young people and local authorities to have people you can trust that’s what makes the BASE Support team so special.
